Should photos be included in CVs – What story does a picture “really” tell?

Your CV should highlight your biographic details, skills and accomplishments; it’s a tool to secure an interview. The danger of attaching a self-image to your CV is your presentation may be misinterpreted and actually inhibit your ability to secure an interview.
Personal presentation is only one of a number of success factors; headed by competency and related experiences. A self-image can lead to discrimination whether conscious or unconscious. Preconceptions often lead to (wrong) assumptions.
Photos, just like garish fonts and colours, are distracting. They can appear unprofessional and may not enhance a career opportunity. Keep recruiters focused on your skills and save your photo for your LinkedIn profile AND make sure it’s a professional shot.
